Hollywood Gardens: Attractions

1 - Disney's Great Movie Adventure
E-Ticket
Any Height
Similar to the former Great Movie Ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios, this dark ride takes guests through the scenes of many Disney movies, paying tribute to the greatest films that have been produced by the studio, as well as some that haven't been produced by the studio, such as Star Wars, Avatar (both 20th Century Fox), Raiders of the Lost Ark (Paramount), and Spider-Man (Sony.)

QUEUE:
Located near the lagoon is a recreation of Grauman's Chinese Theater, where the ride is advertised. Guests go inside and move through the theater, seeing movie posters for the films represented on the ride as well as props from said films. They also pass through a small theater, which tells of the history of Disney. Then, they will enter a soundstage and board a tram vehicle, which stands in front of a beckoning cinema entrance.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
As music plays and the vehicle moves into the theater, the tour guide will introduce themselves. They will explain the premise of the tour before going into the first scene, which is based off musicals. Here, guests enter London in the early Twentieth Century, which features scenes from both Mary Poppins films. Guests see dancing lamplighters with Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt,) recreating the "Trip a Little Light Fantastic" scene from Mary Poppins Returns (2018). Then, as they head towards the rooftops, guests see Bert (Dick Van Dyke) and dancing chimney sweeps with Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews), who flies in midair. This recreates the scene in Mary Popppins (1964.)

The vehicles then enter a battle-torn New York City, where the Avengers, consisting of the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlet Johanssen), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) are standing heroicly as the Chitauri attack. This recreates the famous shot seen in the climax of The Avengers (2012.) Then, the tram enters a parade area, which resembles the Oscorp parade seen in Spider-Man (2002.) The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) attacks the parade, but Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) fights him off.

Then, the tram enter a pirate cave filled with treasure. Here, pirates, British soldiers, and others are fighting. This recreates the climax of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003.) During this scene, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) are dueling, turning into skeletons as they move into the moonlight. During this sequence, a pirate hijacks the vehicle and forces the tour guide off.

The trams then move through the interior of the Death Star, as seen in Star Wars (1977, Episode IV: A New Hope.) Here, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill,) Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher,) Han Solo (Harrison Ford,) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew,) are in a blaster battle with some Stormtroopers. As they turn the corner, guests see Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guiness) fighting with Darth Vader (David Browse.)

Then, guests go through the Well of the Souls seen in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981.) Here, Sallah (John Rhys-Davis) and Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) pull the Ark of the Covenant out of its box. The tram then goes to an Anubis statue, where the pirate from earlier gets off to steal a ruby. Despite warnings from a mysterious cloaked figure, he takes it, and as a consequence, is turned into a skeleton by a blast of mist. The cloaked figure reveals themself to be the tour guide and board the tram again.

Soon, the tram goes into the forest of Pandora from Avatar (2009.) Here, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is being taunt how to hunt by Nitiri (Zoe Saldana.) The tram then enters into an animation section. First, they see the scene in Toy Story (1995) where Buzz and Woody fly. Then, they go into a room with Mickey, recreating the opening of Steamboat Willie (1928.) Finally, they go into a forest, where guests witness the ending of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937), where Snow White receives a true love's kiss and is brought back to life.

In the final scene of the ride, guests enter a large theater, where a video about Disney movies plays. It features archival audio from Walt Disney himself as well as clips from several films. After this, the tram moves back into the soundstage and guests exit the vehicle, taking a passage back into the gardens.

5 - The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
E-Ticket
Must be 40 in.
Guests hold on tight as they plummet up and down through the cursed elevator shaft of the abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel.

BACKSTORY:
Founded in 1917, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was one of LA's most popular places to stay during the Golden Age of Hollywood. However, a mysterious incident on Halloween of 1939 put an end to this. Five people, a celebrity film director, his wife, a rising child star, her nanny, and a hotel bellhop, were riding the elevator when lightning struck the building. Aside from vaporizing a large part of the hotel, it also caused the five people in this elevator to vanish. What happened to them remains a mystery to this day, and the hotel has been closed ever since.

However, the hotel has been purchased by a wealthy company who wants to restore it to its former glory. Now, guests will be invited back into the hotel and allowed to stay, although they may soon discover that a sinister forces lurks there.

QUEUE:
The design of the ride is much like the current Paris version and the former version at Disney's California Adventure. While it is inferior to the moving Orlando ride, it is much cheaper and takes up less space.

Guests enter through rusty, iron-wrought gates into a neglected garden. As they move around, they see old sculptures. Then, when they enter the lobby, they find cobweb-covered artifacts and several random Twilight Zone references. Nearby, the main elevator is stated to be out of order (this is the same elevator that the five unlucky souls disappeared from.)

PRE-SHOW:
Guests enter one of two libraries, where the bellhops tell them that their rooms are not ready yet. Once left alone inside, lightning strikes and causes the power to go out. Strangely, an old television turns on and plays an episode of The Twilight Zone. Here, Rod Serling explains the backstory of the ride, and then says how guests will be boarding elevators and entering the Twilight Zone themselves.

The lights come back on and a secret passage opens up, sending guests into the boiler room. Here, they board one of three elevators, strapping themselves in for good measure.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
As the elevators move away from the doors, a starfield appears, hinting to guests that they are moving away from the real world. As Rod Serling begins to speak, they move up a few floors. There, the doors open up and reveal a hallway, where the ghosts of those who vanished in 1939 appear. They beckon to the guests to join them, before lightning causes them to vanish once again. The elevator then goes up more, revealing a room with a large mirror in it. Then, following a flash of lightning, the guests' reflection disappears, revealing an empty elevator.

Rod Serling declares that they're about to discover what lies in the darkest corner of their imagination. After this, the elevators drop and rise randomly, opening up to reveal the hotel grounds and the entire Hollywood Gardens area (the ride would be located on the other side of the lagoon, so they'd be able to see this.) Then, after a minute or so of this, the elevator returns to the station, where guests see a vortex as they move back to the elevator doors. The doors appear again as Rod Serling tells them to be careful when they check into a hotel like this, or they'll become a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone.

POST-RIDE:
Guests get off their elevators and move down a hallway into the hotel gift shop. Here, guests find ride photos as well as the Tower Hotel Gifts.
